Oct 10, 2009: Eleanor and Hope

Dear Guy and Natalie,

I am sending along three pictures for you.

The first is Eleanor sitting on a bag of skates, etc. in our laundry room. The two remaining are Hope reclining in our dining room.

The girls are getting along very well lately. We came home on Sunday and found them each sleeping on a chair in the dining room for their daily nap. They can be in the same room without constant fighting now. I have even caught Eleanor "doing the dirty work" on behalf of Hope -- Eleanor is the one who wakes me up in the morning, demanding to be fed, while Hope sits quietly beside the bed, looking innocent. Hope is also becoming more affectionate these days. She loves to rub against our legs and is letting us pick up her and cuddle her for short periods very regularly.

Kissik' portrait

I have a couple more pictures (the one I call "Kizzy portrait" is my favourite - he looks so regal) I thought you might like to add to Kissik's blog which I absolutely love.

You're doing a fabulous job with it, and I hope it may help anybody interested in owning a British Shorthair to get to know the breed even better. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend getting a British Shorthair as a great pet.

I would send people to your cattery as you folks are so committed to a quality breeding program and care so much about your cats, their kittens and their new owners.

Keep up the great work you do.

Kissik

Lots of love and hugs,

Shirley

I thought I would send you two other shots of Kissik that I thought were kind of cute. Use them if you wish. He does make me laugh at some of his antics like trying to climb the walls yesterday. I have no idea what he was after, but it was funny watching him try to figure out how to climb the wall.

Kissik - The British Lap Cat

Kissik the lap cat

He [Kissik] has been there to comfort me with his companionship and I have grown to love him even more. We rub heads first thing in the morning and at night before bed. I even managed to get him to sit on my lap with a blanket over my legs for short periods of time (see photo attached). So with a great deal of persuasion and treats, British Shorthairs can tolerate being a lap cat.

Kizzik is such an adaptable cat and such a calm cat that really helps me cope with all the changes that have been happening. I often think of all the changes and some difficult times he has had to endure and he still has such a warm, totally unaggressive personality - he is actually quite an inspiration for me. I know he will really like his new apartment that has much more room to run and big windows to look out of. He still loves to play with his sponge balls and knitted mouse. Glad to hear that his kids are doing great. Would love to see any current photos of them that you might have. I hope things are going well for you both at the Cattery and that you are able to find good homes for your loveable kittens.

Lots of love and hugs,

Shirley

Is this Kissik?

Howdy Folks,

I found this birthday card at our local Farmer's Market in St. Jacobs. I couldn't believe how much it looked like Kissik so I had to buy it. Thought
you might like to put it on your website or use it to send birthday greetings. And yes, you can use the picture I sent you of Kissik on your
website. Take care. Chow for now.

Hugs,

Shirley & Kissik

Hi Guy and Natalie,

Kissik

How nice of you to check in on Kissik and me. He has become such an
important part of my life and his antics continue to amuse me on a daily
basis. He is so sweet and it is the first cat I have felt really
comfortable with as I don't see any signs of aggression in him at all (even
when holding him down to clip his nails - which he really dislikes).

He has a quiet confidence about him that is so soothing for me.
Yet he can play with the best of them.
He is generally very quiet but occasionally gets
very vocal if I go downstairs and he is looking for me.
He is very much a cat who loves his routines including mealtime and playtime.

Jul 29, 2008: Kizzy - Kizzy

Hi Guy,

Silly Kizzy

Thanks for the information about anal glands. I didn't feel comfortable doing it myself, so I took Kizzy to the vet and she did it.

After watching her do it, I'm glad I took him in as the glands were very full and it made quite a mess of her and him when she cleaned them out.

She had to take him out back and wash his whole hind end. I still can't believe how much he will tolerate without ever attempting to bite and claw anybody, although he did actually hiss at a dog that was in the vet's office - first time I heard him do that.

Jun 04, 2008: Kizzy's new home

Hi Natalie and Guy,

Kissik's new house

Hope you had a good time at the cat show in Cambridge. I was so glad I had the opportunity to meet with both of you and talk about Kizzy. You were so helpful in giving me information about his likes and dislikes and food to feed him and toys he might like.

I also bought a brush just like the one you had and Kizzy does enjoy it. Unfortunately the place where you had gotten the tree house for your cats is no longer in business and I was on the internet for 3 hours trying to find a tree house like the one you have in your photos with no success. I finally decided to check on the Kijiji used articles for sale site and they had a smaller version of your tree house for sale for $75.00, so I bought it (see photos attached).

Kizzy absolutely loves it - I swear he was smiling the whole first day it was here and has been sleeping in it and scratching the roof and jumping on the perch. I think it really helped him feel more at home here.
